Harbour Grind

Harbour Grind

Harbour Grind is the first coffee hut in the UK to join Circular Kitchens, setting a high bar for what local, sustainable hospitality can look like.
This independent, sea-side gem is owned and run by Zayna, who started out working at the hut before taking the leap to make it her own. With hard work, a vision and confidence, creativity and an eye for reuse, she redecorated the space using upcycled materials, local antiques, and natural touches — creating a beautiful, welcoming spot that reflects both Whitstable’s character and her own. Customers often comment on the lovely design, relaxed vibe, and friendly atmosphere that make Harbour Grind feel like the community heart of the harbour.
Sustainability here isn’t just a slogan — it’s a way of working. Harbour Grind is organic where possible, plastic-free, and uses compostable packaging wherever it can. Zayna also shares her sustainability mindset with the community: free coffee grinds for gardens, a book-swap shelf, doggy poo bags by donation to the lifeboats, and a noticeboard connecting locals to one another.
Add to that the great coffee, good music, and a stunning view of the harbour and sea, and you’ve got one of those rare places that feels both alive and at peace — a small business with a big heart, quietly showing how circular hospitality can thrive, everywhere.
